10+ English exam narrative writing based on an image: 'Countryside scene' themed narrative writing exam practice pack

How do younger year 5 and 6 students improve their timed creative writing? Vary vocabulary? Access good sample responses? Get inspired? This is a great and varied pack for 10+ exam preparation which helps students add colour, creativity and variety to their compositions. This pack has a clear creative writing task and an interesting stimulus picture which is bound to fire the enthusiasm of younger writers. It also has a detailed supporting guide to help students break down the task, plan their work, plus tips on how to interpret an exam picture, select key areas for their story and plan up each narrative stage.

Included in this pack are:

  • A useful PowerPoint film to remind students of the differences between narrative and descriptive writing and the key skills they need to excel in it.?
  • A question paper with an accompanying picture students need to include in their story, plus supporting tips and suggestions to help students break down the task.
  • A suggested plan for a complex image, suggesting which areas to focus on and incorporate into the story.
  • A sample student response to the narrative writing task, followed by a detailed list of points explaining why the sample response scored highly. Detailed references are made to specific creative writing techniques on show in the sample answer; these are all features which examiners hope to see in top band work.

I sell my teaching resources using Paypal™. Paypal is a worldwide online payments system that supports online transactions. It is fully safe and offers buyer protection for all account holders. If you do not already have an account, you will need to set one up. Start by clicking on the logo below, which will take you to the Paypal website. This is free to set up for all users. Apart from the cost of the resource, you will not be charged any extra fees.

This resource is sold as a zipped file with the documents listed above. You will need a program on your PC, desktop, tablet or phone to unzip this file. Most devices will already have a unzipper program built-in. If your device does not have such a program, you will need to install a new program or app. Two recommended programs / apps are Winzip™ and Winrar™. These are both free to download and try. Winrar can be used fully beyond the 40 trial period if needed.

Once you click 'Buy now' below, you will be taken to the Paypal page and asked to pay. Once you have done so, the .zip file will be downloaded. You may need to look in your 'My Documents' or 'My Downloads' folder. Unzip the contents and save the folder somewhere safe. You are then good to go! Once you have agreed to download the file, refunds are not available. If you find that the contents of the folder are damaged or the folder fails to open due to technical problems, please contact Paypal initially. If they are unable to help, please contact me via email. So long as you can send me a paypal receipt, I will send the folder directly via email.
